Job Summary:

The Aviation Buyer will maintain our supply inventory levels and negotiate deals with potential vendors, and challenge our Supply Chain on cost, quality, and delivery. The Aviation Buyer will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures as well as maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operation. The Aviation Buyer candidate will also conduct regular price comparisons and sourcing strategies to ensure that the company is always getting the best price for each product that is purchased.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Verify purchase requisitions, clarifying unclear items, recommend alternatives.
  • Source aircraft components from approved suppliers, negotiate purchases.
  • Obtain written quotations from suppliers in support of competitive bidding.
  • Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price.
  • Review, plan, negotiate purchases in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Manage open purchase orders with suppliers; monitoring, expediting, and closing orders.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with vendors to ensure immediate access to products and negotiated prices.
  • Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communications with those vendors.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve issues, obtain quotes, confirm deliveries, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Communicate and provide documentation and information to relative team members to account for delays, difficulties, or changes to cost and delivery estimates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, monitor stock levels, and initiate replenishment orders as needed.
  • Assist in generating reports, including procurement metrics, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including maintenance, operations, and finance teams, to ensure seamless procurement processes.
  • Use our ERP system for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs.
  • Ability to lift items.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the aviation industry.
  • Familiarity with Airframe & Components is preferred.
  • Experience with After-market companies preferred.
  • Quantum ERP experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and driven to meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • This position is located in Depew, NY. Relocation assistance is not available.
  • Remote work is not available for this position.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some bending, kneeling, twisting/turning, crouching, climbing stairs, using arms, wrists, handling, grasping, squeezing.
  • This position is subject to a background check.
  • This position is considered to be an FAA safety sensitive position. A pre-employment drug screening is required in addition to random drug screenings after hire.
  • Must be able to pass restricted party screening and can work under strict EAR guidelines per the Export Controls Act.
  • This is a full-time non-exempt position. The hourly pay rate for this position is: $24.00-$31.25.
