Job Description Salary: $25-$30 per hour Staff Biologist I/II/III Sequoia is searching for enthusiastic candidates interested in ongoing professional development in compliance monitoring, biological surveys, and habitat assessments in California. About Us Sequoia specializes in environmental planning, studies, and compliance for infrastructure, conservation, and restoration projects across California. Our clients include government agencies, resource districts, utilities, mining companies, and more. Our team of over 50 biologists, arborists, and botanists collaborates with clients and agencies to determine appropriate measures, permitting, and CEQA/NEPA compliance to support natural resource protection during projects. Why You Should Apply The Staff Biologist I/II/III supports various projects with flexible staffing requirements. Hours depend on project needs, with travel typically within two hours of our Bay Area office, occasionally beyond. You will enhance our team by: Monitoring construction for environmental permit compliance Conducting biological training for construction crews Providing field data for reports and possibly technical documents and habitat restoration plans Mapping biological resources Assessing impacts on wildlife, including sensitive species Reviewing construction bids Interpreting permits, packages, and project scopes for compliance Preparing biological reports and habitat restoration plans for simpler projects Developing Biological Constraints Analyses with impact assessments and avoidance measures Assisting with permit applications under project manager guidance Developing cost estimates and project scopes for moderate compliance projects, under supervision Producing accurate technical and grammatical reports Qualifications Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field Ability to perform independent field studies 1-5 years of wildlife fieldwork and report writing experience; Master's may substitute for up to 2 years Knowledge of California flora/fauna and regulatory environment Strong communication skills Proficiency in MS Office Familiarity with GIS tools Qualified Biologist status for at least one species Valid Driver's License Ability for long field days and traversing difficult terrain Travel up to 90-100% and overnight stays up to 75% may be required depending on projects.
