As a Safety and Environmental Co-op, you will manage Velocity Environmental Health and Safety system through incident and data entry. Write and/or update documents including policies, procedures, JSAs, plant layouts and work instructions. Prepare and present information to Team Leaders, Managers and Staff Members. Participate and present information in an organized format in Safe Production, Safety Steering Team and Safety Mentors meetings. Communicate with assembly workers on safety related issues through listening and performing some of their job tasks. Develop solutions in a team environment for safety related issues. The role requires effective communication in various settings, data acquisition from multiple sources for problem solving, process creation to get work done, quick learning in new situations, and setting objectives aligned with organizational goals. Required education includes being an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Physical Sciences, Engineering or related field. Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester is required. Skills needed include exceptional verbal and written communication, organization, analytical skills, prioritization, and proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; sponsorship will not be provided. Preferred qualifications include a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, sophomore or higher class status, previous related co-op/intern experience, reliable transportation, and experience with AutoCad, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Velocity EHS System.
